The Kingdom of Chaett was the first to break away from the ancient Protectorate of Plort. It was noted - both positively and negatively - for its lax laws and morals. Eventually it reunited with Plort, at which time the barons began to be elected, rather than appointed. The majority of its territory lay for a long time in the Republic of Iric, which considers itself a successor to Chaett. Following the collapse of the Republic, the Riding of Sittorese now lays claim to all the lands of Chaett.
